These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and That1Dev ("we", "us", "our") governing your download, installation, and use of the Pace Browser desktop application and the first-party services at https://pace.that1dev.com, including the website, Addon Shop, release service, and optional PaceSync relay (together, the "Software").
By downloading, installing, or using the Software, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software, and uninstall it if already installed.
If you are using the Software on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" refers to both you and the organization.
addon.json manifest with optional scripts, styles, and block rules).https://pace.that1dev.com/paceaddons, accessible from pace://extensions inside the browser. Listings may be Verified or unverified..pacetheme file) that restyles the browser's interface.Pace Browser is proprietary, closed-source software. It is offered free of charge, but it is not open source and it is not in the public domain. The source repository is private. Public installers, update metadata, and documentation are distributed from https://pace.that1dev.com; access to those materials does not grant any license to use, copy, modify, build, or redistribute the source code.
The browser is built on Chromium and Electron technologies, which include open-source components licensed under their own terms. Applicable open-source notices are available at pace://tos inside the browser and in the application's license documentation. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you hold under those third-party open-source licenses with respect to those components.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, That1Dev grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to:
This license does not sell the Software or any rights in it to you. We retain all rights, title, and interest in the Software that are not expressly granted here.
Except to the extent a restriction is prohibited by applicable law, you agree that you will not, and will not permit anyone else to:
The Software — including its code, design, user interface, icons, logo, the "Pace" and "Pace Browser" names, and the bundled themes — is owned by That1Dev and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You may not use the Pace name or logo in a way that suggests affiliation with or endorsement by That1Dev without prior written permission, except for truthful, nominative references (for example, "works with Pace Browser").
Chromium, Google Chrome, and the Chrome Web Store are trademarks of their respective owners. Pace Browser is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Google.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction if higher, to use the Software. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian.
The browser is a tool; what you do with it is your responsibility. You agree not to use the Software to:
You are solely responsible for the websites you visit, the Content you access, the addons and themes you install, and everything you download through the browser.
When Fast Mode is enabled, the browser pre-loads websites as you type in the address bar. This means network requests may be sent to websites before you press Enter, including to sites you ultimately do not visit. Those requests originate from your device and IP address and are visible to the destination servers like any other visit. You can turn Fast Mode off at any time in pace://settings under Performance. See the Privacy Policy for full details on how Fast Mode behaves on the network.
Pace Browser uses its own native addon format, the Pace Addon. It does not run Chrome extensions. Addons can be installed from the official Addon Shop or loaded manually from a folder or file.
Publishing a listing does not mean Pace reviewed or endorsed it. An unverified listing has not completed Pace's manual safety review. A Verified badge means we reviewed the exact package version and cryptographic digest identified by the Shop. It is a good-faith screening for obvious safety problems, not a guarantee that an addon is free of defects, security issues, deceptive behavior, or unwanted behavior. A changed package loses its Verified status until that new package is reviewed.
Addons installed from outside the official Shop display a security warning before installation. Installing them is entirely at your own risk. An addon's content scripts run inside the pages it matches and can read and modify those pages, including anything displayed on them. Only install addons from developers you trust, and review the permissions declared in the addon's manifest.
To protect users, we may update the browser to disable or block addons that we reasonably believe are malicious, deceptive, or harmful, whether installed from the Shop or elsewhere.
If you build Pace Addons, you are the developer of that addon and solely responsible for it, including its behavior, its compliance with law, and any privacy disclosures it requires. By submitting an addon to the Addon Shop, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, review, distribute, and display the addon and its listing materials for the purpose of operating the Shop. You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this license and that your addon does not violate Section 8 (Acceptable use).
Publishing or managing a listing requires a separate Addon Shop developer account. You must provide accurate account information, protect your password and optional two-factor credentials, and promptly notify us if you believe the account is compromised. You authorize us to process the account, publisher, package, verification, security, and request metadata described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend an account or listing to investigate abuse, security risk, infringement, fraud, or a violation of these Terms.
A developer may purchase a $5 manual safety review for one immutable addon version and package digest. The payment purchases review work and does not guarantee approval, endorsement, a Verified badge, a particular completion time, or permanent Verified status. If the package is rejected, we provide feedback about changes needed for that submitted package. Updating or replacing the package requires a new review. Checkout is processed by Lemon Squeezy under its terms and privacy policy; any taxes, refunds, or payment disputes are handled according to the terms shown at checkout and applicable law.
The browser includes an optional built-in password manager. Saved credentials are encrypted on your device, and their plaintext is never transmitted to That1Dev or any third party.
If you enable PaceSync, encrypted vault records may be wrapped in an additional end-to-end encrypted sync envelope and routed to your paired devices. The PaceSync relay does not receive your master password, plaintext credentials, or decryption keys, but it may process ciphertext and ordinary delivery metadata as described in the Privacy Policy.
Your master password is the only key to your saved credentials. It is never stored — anywhere — and it never leaves your device. Consequently:
That1Dev is not liable for any loss of credentials, loss of access to accounts, or any consequences arising from your use of, or inability to use, the password manager. Use of this feature is at your own risk.
Themes change the browser's appearance only. Bundled themes are part of the Software and covered by Section 4's license. Themes obtained from third parties (including .pacetheme files shared by other users) are third-party content you install at your own risk, though themes cannot run code or access page content.
Pace Browser includes the Widevine Content Decryption Module ("Widevine CDM") so that DRM-protected streaming services work in the browser. You acknowledge that:
Websites you visit, sidebar apps, addons, third-party themes, streaming services, search engines, and any other third-party content or services are operated by third parties under their own terms and privacy policies. That1Dev does not control and is not responsible for their behavior, content, accuracy, availability, or data practices. A link, a default setting, or the availability of a service inside the browser is not an endorsement.
The browser automatically checks https://pace.that1dev.com/updates/ and downloads and installs signed updates when a new version is published. Updates may add, change, or remove features, and may be necessary for security or compatibility. Updates are subject to these Terms unless they come with separate terms. If you do not want automatic updates, your only option is to stop using and uninstall the Software; running outdated versions is at your own risk.
If you send us feedback, feature requests, bug reports, or other ideas (through the website form, email, or the issue tracker), you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use them for any purpose — including building them into the Software — without compensation, attribution, or any obligation to you. Don't send us anything confidential; we can't accept obligations of confidentiality over unsolicited submissions.
Donations (for example, through GitHub Sponsors) are voluntary and non-refundable, are processed by the third-party platform under its own terms, and do not purchase any product, service, feature, support commitment, or influence over the Software's direction. Donating does not change your license or create any additional obligations on our part.
These Terms also govern your use of the Pace Browser website and first-party services at https://pace.that1dev.com. You agree not to interfere with their operation, misuse the feedback form or Addon Shop (including spam or automated submissions), probe or overload the update and PaceSync services, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any related account, storage, or system. Information submitted through the website and Shop is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. THAT1DEV EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING OUT OF COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, THAT1DEV DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE; THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED; THAT ANY WEBSITE, ADDON, OR STREAMING SERVICE WILL FUNCTION WITH THE BROWSER; OR THAT THE AD BLOCKER WILL BLOCK ALL ADS OR TRACKERS. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU; IN THAT CASE, ANY MANDATORY WARRANTIES ARE LIMITED TO THE MINIMUM SCOPE AND DURATION REQUIRED BY LAW.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THAT1DEV BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, CREDENTIALS, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE OR THESE TERMS — WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THAT1DEV'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. (THE SOFTWARE IS FREE, SO THAT AMOUNT WILL TYPICALLY BE US $50.)
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including, where applicable, liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction with mandatory consumer-protection laws, you retain all rights those laws grant you.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless That1Dev from and against claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Software, any addon you develop or distribute, or your violation of any law or third-party right while using the Software.
These Terms apply for as long as you use the Software. You may terminate them at any time by uninstalling the browser and ceasing all use. Your license terminates automatically if you materially breach these Terms. We may also discontinue the Software, the Addon Shop, the website, or any feature at any time, with or without notice.
Upon termination, Sections 5, 6, 17, 20, 21, 22, and 25 survive. Uninstalling the browser removes your local browsing data as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms from time to time — for example, to reflect new features or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will make reasonable efforts to provide more prominent notice (such as a note on the website or in the browser). Your continued use of the Software after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to a change, stop using and uninstall the Software.
